Essential Faire Activities in Shadowlands

The Darkmoon Faire offers valuable reputation buffs: Darkmoon Top Hat and WHEE!. These do not stack; each increases experience and reputation by 10% for an hour.

The Darkmoon Faire is also great for collectors: there are mounts, pets, toys, and transmog you can only get at the Darkmoon Faire, which can greatly aid players towards reaching collection total achievements. This is more important in Battle for Azeroth than in Legion as new achievements have been added for the most dedicated collectors of mounts, pets, and toys. Many of these items require prize tickets, which is covered in our Acquiring Tickets Section. You should complete Darkmoon Faire dailies to slowly acquire tickets.

In addition to the minigames for dailies, there are elaborate races which reward achievements, toys, and other fun items. If you’ve skipped the Darkmoon Faire for a few months, and want something creative to do in game, check out the new minigames.

The Darkmoon Faire is also a great way to boost your professions. There are quests which grant +5 skillups, Inscription recipes for higher ranks of crafting Darkmoon Faire cards, and Darkmoon Daggermaw which can be turned in for recipes, pets, or a mount, Darkwater Skate.

How to get to the Darkmoon Faire

The Darkmoon Faire takes place on Darkmoon Island, and the only way to reach this island is through one of two portals. The Alliance portal can be found just outside of Goldshire in Elwynn Forest, while the Horde portal can be found just south of Thunder Bluff in Mulgore.

You don’t have to travel to the portals yourself. A Darkmoon Faire Mystic Mage can be found in all original major capital cities, as well as the capital cities added in the Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King expansions. They are willing to transport you to the Faire for a small fee (scaling with your level up to 50). Alliance Mystic Mages will send you to the portal in Goldshire, while Horde Mystic Mages will send you to the portal in Mulgore.

These mages also offer the introductory quest The Darkmoon Faire, which awards 5 and a Darkmoon Adventurer’s Guide. This guide needs to be in your bags for Darkmoon Faire-related quest items to drop, so it’s worth holding onto.

Zoning onto the island for the first time will reward the achievement Come One, Come All!

When you enter the faire, you will see the Tallstrider Handler “Dusty” Brandom, who can loan you a mount to get to the Faire faster–perfect for low-level characters.

Faire Layout and Map

Players reach the Faire from portals in Elwynn and Mulgore. Upon zoning onto Darkmoon Island, players will ride through a short winding path before the Faire’s main street is visible at the bottom of the hill. Wild battle pets and some other fun attractions are scattered around the island as well. Warlords additions are in blue.
